One of the first things you want to do when you get your new puppy is leash train them. New puppies are adventurous and curious so it takes a little time to do things right. The first and most obvious thing is get your dog a good collar and leash. The argyle pink collar is a good one if you have a female dog. If your puppy is a male, pink is probably not the preferred choice. If you were fortunate enough to get a free puppy, then your overall cost for supplies is cheaper since you didn’t have to buy the dog too.
One of the things to remember is to keep training your dog to walk to your side, as opposed to in front of you. When they tend to walk in front of you it is a sign that they are trying to establish dominance. You will have to continually keep guiding them back to your side when you walk them to show them you are in charge. When the weather is great, you will want to take your puppy for walks just for fun. Wind storms are a different story. I don’t even like to spend more than a moment outside when it is too windy. Just remember that with all dog training, consistancy is the key to success.
