When it comes to dogs, few are cuter than a Shih-Tzu. Their origins come from China. The name itself means ‘loin dog’ due to its long hair. One of the great things about this breed is that its hair does not shed like other dogs. Due to this fact, they are considered hyperallergenic, and safe around most people that are allergic to dogs. The life span of these dogs is around 11-14 years. They are considered a friendly and lively dog. Like all dog breeds this small, people need to be careful around them to avoid injury. If you do get a Shih-Tzu, unless you are going to be entering them in shows, you might want to keep their hair short. Even then, they will need to be groomed at least once a month. If you grow thier hair out, it will be a daily effort to keep their hair detangled. When the weather is warmer, you will want to make sure that they have plenty to drink. They can overheat easily in temperatures exceeding 75 degrees. If their hair is short, it isn’t quite as bad. You still have to be careful though.
It is no secret though that most owners love to pamper these dogs. It is common to see them with nice dog beds like this blue toile tuffet bed, or wearing fancy dog collars like this bella collar. If you do decide to get one as a pet, you will have a great companion that will provide years of joy.
